Yes and no: The Priori app gives you the option to delete a single file or all outstanding files. But, files are set to auto upload the second they are finished recording. Depending on your internet or cell connection this can take a few seconds or a few minutes. Once a file uploads, it is deleted from the device and is sent through processing in the cloud. The best way to delete a file is to do so the instant it is done recording. See How do I know when Priori is recording? for more
OPTION 1: Deleting a single file
- After a file has finished recording, open the Priori application
- In the main page locate the file you wish to delete
- Tap the DELETE button
- In the Delete audio file pop up window tap OK
- If successful the file should disappear on the maine page if not, contact <PRIORI SUPPORT EMAIL>
OPTION 2: Delete all outstanding files
- Open the Priori application
- In the main page drag down to refresh to ensure there are outstanding files that have not already uploaded

- If the Priori Waiting to record audio notification is not visible, open the Priori application and ensure you are signed in. If the Priori Waiting to record audio notification is visible, skip this step and proceed to step 3
- To observe the Priori app recording audio, we will manually start a recording. To do this, open the Priori application. On the main page, tap the FORCE RECORDING button . This will start a 30 second audio recording.
- Like in step 1, swipe down from the top of your display to view your notification panel. An additional notification will appear titled Priori Recording Audio This notification will only be present when Priori is recording audio.
The FORCE RECORDING button will manually start a 30 second audio recording after pressing it. It is not needed for daily use and will not disrupt your automatically scheduled 30 second audio recordings.
The Priori Waiting to record audio notification is a silent notification that needs to be present in order for Priori to properly record its scheduled 30 second audio recordings. It is a static notification and cannot be removed if Priori is to run properly.

PRIORI is an acronym that stands for “Predicting Individual Outcomes for Rapid Intervention”. The ultimate goal of PRIORI is to predict changes in people’s mood and emotion through speech. In its current state, PRIORI records “ambient noise”. This means the PRIORI application will turn on a phone’s microphone every 15 minutes for a 30 second recording. The recording is instantaneously encrypted and uploaded to our secure servers. In our secure servers, the recording undergoes the following analyses:
- First, the audio undergoes voice activity detection. This checks to see if there is any speech in the recording. If there isn’t, we finish analysis right away and permanently delete the audio recording.
- If we did find speech in the recording, we then determine the recording clarity. This quantifies how clear your speech is compared to the background noise of your environment
- Next is speaker verification. This predicts if the voice found in the recording is yours or someone else’s
- Lastly, the audio undergoes emotion analysis: This predicts emotion in your speech resulting in two values called “valence” and “activation”. Valence is closely related to positivity and negativity in your speech whereas activation or “arousal” looks at the level of energy in your speech. A visual representation of this can be seen here (below):
